Hihiri Studio is a motion design studio run by Joshua Jackson, an Australian sole trader (ABN 18 394 816 764) based in Sydney. This statement explains what personal information we collect — through hihiristudio.com, and through the emails we send to businesses we’d like to work with — why we collect it, and who else sees it. We handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
We collect as little as we can. We don’t use advertising trackers, our site sets no cookies, and we never sell your information or share it with anyone else for their marketing.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry through the form on our site, we collect your name, your email address, your business name, and the type of project you’re enquiring about.
All four are required — we can’t reply to an enquiry without them. Using the form is entirely voluntary; if you’d rather not, email us directly at Josh@Hihiristudio.com.
When you visit the site we collect aggregate analytics through Framer, such as page views and general traffic patterns. This doesn’t identify you, and our site sets no cookies.
We also collect business contact details for businesses we’d like to work with. These come from pages those businesses have published themselves — crowdfunding campaigns, company websites, and public advertising libraries — and are usually a name, a role, a business email address and the company. We collect this from the published page, not from you, so you won’t have given it to us directly.
For each contact we also record where we found the details and the date we collected them, so we can always tell you exactly where your information came from.
If we email you, we keep whether it reached you, whether you opened it, whether you clicked a link in it, and whether you replied, along with any reply you send. We use this only to judge whether our emails are wanted and to stop contacting people who aren’t interested. If you unsubscribe or ask us to stop, we keep your email address on a suppression list so that you aren’t contacted again.
Why we collect it
If you contact us through the form, we use your details only to reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote, and — if you go ahead — deliver the work and invoice you. We won’t add you to a mailing list, and enquiring doesn’t put you on our outreach list.
Marketing emails and how to stop them
We send a small number of introductory emails to businesses we think would benefit from our work. Every one identifies us, includes our ABN, and carries a working unsubscribe link.
If you unsubscribe we stop within five working days, and we add you to our suppression list so you aren’t contacted again. You can also simply reply and ask — you don’t have to use the link.
If you’d like to know where we got your details, email us and we’ll tell you the page we found them on and the date we collected them, free of charge.
Who else sees it
We use the following services to run the studio. All are based overseas, which means your information is held outside Australia.
— Framer — website hosting and the enquiry form (United States)
— Cloudflare — routes email sent to our studio address (United States)
— Google Workspace — where enquiries and replies arrive, where our correspondence with you happens, and where we keep our working files, including the mailboxes on hihirimedia.com and hihiriworks.com (United States)
— Instantly — the platform we use to send our outreach emails, and where business contact details are stored (United States)
— Stripe — invoicing and payment, for clients who go ahead (United States)
We share your information with these services only so they can provide those functions to us. We don’t disclose it to anyone else unless the law requires it.
These providers are outside Australia and are not subject to the Australian Privacy Principles. We take reasonable steps to use providers that publish their own privacy and security commitments, but we can’t guarantee they will handle your information the way an Australian business must.
How long we keep it
— Enquiries that don’t become projects: 12 months, then deleted
— Client records: 5 years after the work is completed, to meet Australian tax and record-keeping requirements
— Businesses we contacted who didn’t reply: 12 months from the last email we sent, then deleted
— Replies and correspondence: 12 months if it doesn’t lead to work; otherwise kept with the client record
— Suppression list: kept indefinitely, so we can honour your opt-out permanently
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us where we got it, ask us to correct anything that’s wrong, and ask us to delete it where we aren’t required to keep it.
Email Josh@Hihiristudio.com and we’ll respond within 30 days. That’s the right address whether you heard from us through hihiristudio.com, hihirimedia.com or hihiriworks.com — all three are us.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, tell us first and we’ll try to put it right. If you’re still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
